“The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being…” – World Health Organization

The health tribunal will use community testimony, scientific research and human rights organization’s knowledge to examine how the presence of Goldcorp’s mining operations have affected community residents.

To make our deliberations we will also make use of international tools and guidelines including the:

  • United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples,
  • the International Labour Organization’s convention number 169,
  • the World Health Organization’s Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, and the
  • Inter-American Commission on Human Rights’ American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man.
